My Wife — The Care She Gave My Mother Like a Daughter
The woman who came into my life did not remain only my life partner. She became like a daughter to my mother. I believe that, through her son's marriage, my mother gained the daughter she had been missing. To me, that is the truth.
My wife did not see my mother merely as her mother-in-law. She cared for her as a daughter would care for her own mother.
She bathed her. She cleaned her after bowel movements. At times, when my mother had an accident without realizing it and fell down, my wife cleaned her without disgust.
She provided the care my mother needed. She understood her frailties and offered the comfort an elderly, ill mother needed.
I will never forget the care my wife gave, in her own way, until my mother's last breath. During my mother's journey through illness, I was not there merely with words; my wife, too, shared in that responsibility.
I consider her service one of the greatest blessings I have received in my life.
We Had Planned to Visit Goa — But Could Not Leave Mother Alone
Before our wedding, I used to tell my wife something:
“After we get married, let's go to Goa. Let's visit all the beautiful places together.”
But after our wedding, that wish did not come true. We could not leave my mother alone. She needed constant care. We could not set aside that responsibility and travel for pleasure together.
From August 2017 until April 22, 2024, we gave priority to caring for my mother.
Throughout those years, my wife did not insist on that trip. She understood our circumstances and endured them patiently. Although the Goa trip I had spoken of before our marriage never happened, she stood beside me in caring for my mother.
She set aside her own wishes and shared our family responsibility. I will never forget that support.
My Prayer
Father, along with all other families, may my family also be as You envisioned a family should be in heaven before creation, when You conceived and created us. Please, Father, when You look upon our families, may You be pleased. May families come before You together, blameless...

The Worry in My Mother's Heart — What Will Happen to You After I Am Gone?
While my mother was alive, she often worried about my future.
She knew I had set aside my working life for many years to care for her.
She felt distressed when she thought about how we were meeting our needs with her pension.
“You set aside your job for me. You are taking care of me with my pension. What will happen to you after I am gone?”
She would ask me this.
“What if you end up on the streets? There is no one to look after you, is there?”
She would worry.
Behind those words was a mother's pain over her son's future. I, too, thought about those circumstances. But we comforted one another.
“God alone is our refuge. He will take care of us.”
We would say this and find courage.
She worried not only about her own future but about mine as well. How would I live after she was gone? How would I support my family? How would I find a job? These questions troubled her heart.
At that time, I had no answers to any of those questions.
But I had faith: even without human help, God would not abandon us. With that faith, we comforted one another.
While my mother was still alive, she expressed one wish to me many times:
“After I die, do not take me anywhere else. Bury me here in Kakinada.”
